Interactive tests offer immediate scores and feedback
Many immigrants work toward the goal of becoming a U.S. citizen. They’re eligible for naturalization if they meet all requirements set forth by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Passing a civics test is a step in the naturalization process the USCIS has established.
As part of Gale Presents: Peterson’s Test Prep, Citizenship Test Prep includes one practice exam with 100 questions, as well as a digital rights management (DRM)–free eBook covering the immigration system, citizenship process, and information on accessing study materials provided by USCIS. Content within the Peterson’s resources is unique; it covers the same material that test-takers will find on the formal citizenship test, but isn’t intended to replicate the exact questions and answers on the U.S. citizenship test. The goal is to help individuals gain knowledge and expertise within the subject areas covered.
Tests in the database are timed, so someone can practice like they are taking the actual U.S. citizenship test. The practice tests are created by subject matter experts and change as major revisions are announced that would affect the questions asked. The exams can be retaken, so test-takers can see their progress. Plus, the database includes helpful articles and tips on test-taking strategies, such as reducing stress, study methods, etc.
The USCIS requirement to pass the civics component of the naturalization test is that individuals need to answer six questions correctly. When it comes to the English test, to pass, applicants need to be able to read one out of three questions out loud and write one out of three sentences correctly.
