Academic libraries support faculty and students by offering access to resources that expand the possibilities of research. We partner with college and university librarians to collect, preserve, and organize rare content as part of our extensive collection of primary source digital archives and educational databases—making knowledge more accessible across campus and furthering research efforts. Watch the video to learn more about what we do.

This year, Gale celebrates 20 years of digitizing historical materials through the Gale Primary Sources program. To encourage and discover innovative applications of Gale Primary Sources collections, we’re recruiting a group of expert users to share their experiences and best practices.

DIGITAL HUMANITIES

Gale partnered with the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) and the Committee on LGBT History (CLGBTH) to award nonresidential fellowships to 10 researchers. Each fellow was granted six months’ access to Gale Digital Scholar Lab and a relevant Gale Primary Sources archive. Here are their experiences.

Follow Digital Humanities Journeys at Different Experience Levels

To follow the journeys of those who are new to digital humanities, as well as those at intermediate and advanced levels of using DH tools, watch the presentations and download the case studies of Gale research fellows at both the Committee on LGBT History and the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.

What Is Gale Digital Scholar Lab?

GALE PRIMARY SOURCES

Get immediate firsthand accounts from the people who saw history happen. Gale Primary Sources brings hundreds of years of history to the forefront of digital humanities with a vast selection of academic resources that are powered by thoughtfully developed search technologies.

GALE RESEARCH COMPLETE

While journal research can seem foreign to new scholars, the more time they spend searching through their library’s collection of peer-reviewed articles, journals from top academic publishing houses, or bibliographic databases and indexes, the more comfortable they’ll be with the research process. Access to a wide selection of full-text academic resources like journals and periodical databases gives students more opportunities to gain broader insights and expand their understanding of peer-reviewed sources, scholarly papers, and academic research projects.

LITERATURE DATABASES

Encourage digital research over an expansive array of literature resources. Researchers at all levels of their education will appreciate the database functionality of cross-searching collections to find the perfect literary publication. These academic databases help to broaden research and the study of authors, works, and movements across vast collections of journal articles and scholarly reviews.

BUSINESS RESOURCES

Whether a small business owner is looking to expand or a budding entrepreneur is launching a startup, your library can support their varied business planning and research needs with Gale Business resources.

eBooks

The Gale eBooks platform takes content—and the way learners access it—in bold new directions with a modern approach to visual presentation and usage.
